It is so good to be back in Africa! I feel at home hear! Swaziland is quite different than Kenya... and that's neither bad nor good really. I love the environment and the culture and the people. It is green and mountainous... and the
cities aren't too big. It is a beautiful country with beautiful people.
I have had a few small adventures since touching down on African soil... the hostel stay in Jo'berg was nice. Iwas very thankful for a bed after traveling for over 24 hours! Nineteen hours in the same plane is a very long ride! I had the opportunity to meet some very intersting people from all over the world... an African traditional healer, a traveler from the UK, several people from Canada, two ladies from the Czeck Republic, and some guys from South Africa. It was great fun... I just wish I wasn't such a zombie during my stay!
But now I am in Swaziland. I am staying with one of the staff members at the moment, adn her adopted Swazi baby (I have to say that she is one of the cutest babies I've ever seen). It's been great to dream and plan with her, as she is a fellow artist who has similar aspirations to use art here in Swazi. It gets me excited to talk with her about plans for the future! When two creative minds get together, the ideas just fly! It's great.
We had an adventure last night during a thunderstorm. We were just minding our own business, chilling out and watching 24, when Julie noitced the dark liquid seeping into her kitchen from outside. We put a towel in the crevice to try to stop the flow, but in a matter of 5 minutes, there was water and mud ankle-deep throughout the house. The next 4 hours were spent sweeping aand mopping, and there is still mud residue throught the house.
Welcome to Swaziland! The adventure has begun.
