Tuesday was an unplanned day of ministry... always the best kind.  There is always so much room for God to move!  What our team had planned fell through, so we prayed and asked for the Holy Spirit's guidance.  After some time, we diecided that we should stay in the area of Lakeview (one of the neighborhoods that was right next to the levee break).  It is a more upscale neighborhood, but still incredibly devastated by the hurricane.

More specifically, one of the girls felt like God was giving her the number "28".  I didn't know where we were, but thought that there may be a 28th street somewhere in the area since we were in a city.  I split the team into groups to go in different directions, prayer walking and seeking opportunities to minister to people along the way.

As I drove around checking on the teams, I realized that we were on 38th street and that one fo the teams was probably walking towards twenty-eighth.  I got a call telling me that one of the teams had stopped at a house on 33rd and needed the rest of the team help out with a heavy duty job.  They were on their way to 28th street.

I rounded up the rest of the team and we headed over to help out.  The house was a mess!  The homeowner was a single woman probably in her mid- to late- fifties.  She had been living in a trailer next to her house since October.  The whole team was overwhelmed as they stepped inside the house.  The black mold had grown all the way into the ceiling and everything was still in the house.  This woman was a packrat and each item had siginificance to her.  She could not bring herself to throw stuff away.  She would stand in the middle of a room and just begin sobbing.

The team began the hefty task that lay before them with smiles on their faces (they didn't fade as the weeks progressed and lack of sleep kicked in).  Kathy began letting go of her items and within two hours, her sidewalk was piled about 8 feet high by 40 yards long.

I pulled the team out after about two hours to move on to a previous commitment, but before we left we gather outside and prayed over Kathy and her home.  She broke down and thanked God for sending our team when He did.

So we didn't get to 28th street, but I found out later that night during debriefing that on Kathy's microwave and grandfather clock, the time had stopped at 1:
28!  That is when the water had risen and stopped the appliances in the house! God is so good and He certainly reveals Himself in amazing ways!
